Hi everyone, my name is David Clinton and I'm a Linux System Administrator and writer. Welcome to my course, Linux Server Skills for Windows Administrators.

Right now, Linux owns the server world and if you're in the business of delivering digital services, whether through local server room resources or the cloud, the odds are that you're going to run into Linux sooner, rather than later.

This course is a quick introduction to managing Linux servers, with a special focus on those of you who might be more familiar with Windows environments. Assuming you're already comfortable with the basics of working with any modern operating system, you're more than welcome to join in.

Some of the major topics that we will cover include:

  1. Using the Linux command line
  2. Installing and managing software packages - including building a web server
  3. Understanding the basics of cloud computing on Amazon's AWS
  4. Securing your server against threats
By the end of the course, you should be comfortable with all the basic administrative tasks needed to safely and efficiently run simple Linux-based services. This course should be a terrific springboard to some of the more advanced Linux courses here on topwallpaper, including those that will prepare you for the Linux Professional Institute's Server Professional certification.

I hope you’ll join me on our journey through this Linux Server Skills for Windows Administrators course, at topwallpaper.
